WINTER INTO SPRING BIRD WATCHING WALKS WITH GRAHAM GIDDENS
Guided walks giving you the unique opportunity to birdwatch on quiet areas of private land in the company of professional, knowledgeable guide, Graham Giddens. 

With the exception of the Dawn Chorus Walk, all walks begin at 9am and run for approximately 2 hours. Please wear dark colours. Paths may be muddy and wet, so wear walking boots or wellies with a good grip.
Cost: £12.00 per walk per person, Friends £10.00. Numbers are limited on each walk so book early. Full details will be sent upon booking.

Sunday 27th: Dawn Chorus with Nightingales, Needs Ore Reserve (with hides) at 6am-9am
WE SHOULD SEE: Bird song, spring migrants and avocets.
 
RUSTIC SKILLS & CRAFTS

EVENING DEER WATCHING WALK
Wed 6th Aug from 7.30pm – 9.00pm

Join our Education Officers for a dusk walk to look for Roe, Fallow and Red deer and other wildlife along the way at Blackwater. 
Cost: £6.00 per person. Friends of the Trust: £5.00 
 
WOODLAND CRAFT – MAKE A BESOM BROOM
Tues 5th, 12th & 19th Aug - 10.00 am – 12.00midday. At the Treehouse Study Centre

Select your materials from our woodland and create your own besom broom to take away. Using traditional woodcraft tools and techniques.
Suitable for adults and children aged 10 yrs+ . Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. 
Cost: £15.00 per person. Friends of the Trust: £12.00

INTRODUCTION TO ARCHERY
Mon 4th, 11th & 18th Aug 10.30am – 12.00midday. At the Out of Town Centre

Learn the basics of bare bow shooting and take part in some archery games. 

No experience needed, suitable for adults and children aged 8yrs+. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. All archery sessions are led by GNAS qualified staff from the Countryside Education Trust
Cost: £15.00 per person. Friends of the Trust: £12.00


ADVENTURE ARCHERY - field archery in an enclosed woodland setting 
Wed 6th, 13th & 20th Aug 2.00pm - 4pm. At the Treehouse Study Centre.

Move around the course, shooting at a variety of targets from different distances and elevations.

Suitable for adults and children aged 12+ yrs. No experience necessary as instruction will be given by GNAS qualified staff from the Countryside Education Trust
Cost: £25 per person. Friends of the Trust £20

Family Events - New for this Season

Robin Hood and his Mini Merry Men

Thursday 31st July 2014, 10.00am – 1.00pm. At the Treehouse Study Centre. 

Join Robin Hood’s band of Merry Men for some exciting Treehouse based fun and games. Have a go at shooting a real bow and arrow and see if you can steal the Sheriff of Nottingham’s treasure!
Come dressed up as Robin Hood, Maid Marian, Little John or even Friar Tuck!

Cost: £9.50 per child, Friends of the Trust £7.50

Storytelling - Whispers from the Woods
Mon 4th, 11th & 18th Aug – 1.00pm – 2.30pm. At the Treehouse Study Centre.

Enjoy
 the magical stories in our atmospheric woodland, told by "Green Man of the Woods". An experience not to be missed.

Space is limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.

First time Farmers
Tuesday 5th, 12th & 19th Aug – 1.30pm – 4.30pm, at the Out of Town Centre. 

Join us for an animal feeding session on the farm. Have lots of fun while milking a goat, collecting some eggs and having a pony ride.

Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.
Cost: £12.00 per adult and child + £5.00 for each additional person. Friends of the Trust: £10.00/£4.00 

Treehouse Treasure Hunt

Wed 6th, 13th & 20th Aug – 10.00am – 12.00 midday, at the Treehouse Study Centre. 

Learn orienteering skills and follow clues to find the hidden treasure in the woodland.

Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.
Cost: £10.00 per adult and child + £4.00 for each additional person. Friends of the Trust £8.00/£3.00


Pond Dipping and Bug Hunt 
Thurs 7th, 14th & 21st Aug – 10.00am – 12.00 midday, at the Treehouse Study Centre.

Search for newts, dragonflies, beetles and many more in our ponds and around our woods. Make some bug themed crafts to take home. 

Cost: £5.50 per adult and child + £2.50 for each additional person. Friends of the Trust: £4.50/£2.00  

Den Building
Thurs 7th, 14th & 21st Aug – 2.00pm – 4.00pm. At the Treehouse Study Centre.

Learn to build different types of shelters in our woodland around the treehouse. Have lots of fun and learn survival skills in the process.

Cost: £5.50 per adult and child + £2.50 for each additional person. Friends of the Trust: £4.50/£2.00 

I-SPY Bird Watching – at Needs Ore Nature Reserve
Fri 8th, 15th & 22nd Aug – 10.00am – 12.00 midday

A rare opportunity to visit the bird hides of the Beaulieu estate.

Cost: £8.00 per adult and child + £3.00 for each additional person. Friends of the Trust: £5.50/£2.50

Pizza Cookout
Fri 8th, 15th & 22nd Aug – 2.00pm – 4.00pm. At the Out of Town Centre

?Make your own pizza in our mud ovenusing herbs and vegetables collected from the garden.

FIELD ARCHERY - ARCHERY THE WAY NATURE INTENDED

Thursday 17th April 1.30pm-4pm. Adults & Children 12yrs+
At the Treehouse Study Centre
Experience
what it would be like to hunt the way our ancestors did with a bow and arrow. Move around the field archery course through our enclosed woodland shooting at different targets, at different elevations and at different ungiven distances.
Family groups welcome. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Falconry Activities with Paul Manning Falconer of Amews Falconry at the Out of Town Centre, Beaulieu.  Paul is a fully accredited LANTRA falconry assessor, has practiced falconry for over 20 years and is chairman of the Wessex Falconry & Hampshire Hawking Club.

  “Introduction to Falconry” - A Falconry experience
During this half day session you will gain a basic understanding of birds of prey, their training and care whilst providing a hands-on experience holding and flying falconry birds.

Birds of Prey - Falconry Photography Day
Saturday 12th April 10.00am - 4.00pm
The day starts with a short Introduction to falconry, followed by an opportunity to photograph birds of prey in flight, working and posed in their natural habitat.  Working closely with Falcons, Hawks and Amber, the European Eagle Owl.
Cost: £50.00 per person, Friends of the Trust £45.00 including refreshments (Please bring your own packed lunch) 
 

Little Owls Parent & Toddlers Club

Little Owls Parent & Toddlers Club
Come and have fun exploring nature for 2-4 year olds with adults Meetings are usually the first Fri and following Mon of each month.  Choose from two sessions: 10.00am – 12.00 noon or 1.00 – 3.00pm

6th & 9th June       Farm Fun 
4th & 7th July        Join the Harvest 

Sessions in June and July are at the Out of Town Centre.
Note: There is no Little Owls in August

If you want something different – outdoor and eco-friendly, we have two great venues: The magical Treehouse Study Centre and Out of Town Centre Farm at Beaulieu with a range of fun activities.

Themes include Survival for 7 year olds + and Campfire Experience for 10 year olds+, a range of exciting themes for 4 – 10 year olds including Robin Hood, Pirates, Fairies & Elves, Dinosaurs, Bugs and Animals based at the Treehouse Study Centre all year round and farm parties in spring and summer at the Out of Town Centre.
