FEED THE FARM ANIMALS

Monday – Friday, 3rd – 21st August

At the Farm
  

Meet the farm animals and have a go at feeding and mucking out!

Suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Cost: £3 per person, Friends: £2. Under 2’s free!

TOUR, TASTE & PICK THE GARDEN

Monday 3rd, 10th & 17th August
From 10am- 12 noon
At the Farm
  

Come for a tour around our garden and have the chance to pick some of our vegetables to take away!

Suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Cost: Tour is free, £3 per bag of vegetables.

No booking required.





CAMPFIRE CRAFT

Tuesday 4th, 11th & 18th August
10am – 11:30am
At the Treehouse


Rediscover that inner primal urge to light a fire. Learn to find natural tinder, lay your fire and light it using a fire steel, and how to put it out safely. You will try several different ways of using your fire such as making char cloth and colour dying. As long as you get a good fire lit, you’ll be able to roast a marshmallow on a stick to finish off a fantastic hands-on campfire session!

Suitable for ages 6+. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.
Cost: £5 per person, Friends: £4.

NEEDLE FELTING

Tuesday 4th August
1pm – 4pm
At the Farm


With wool from our own Shetland sheep, make a felt sheep using the needle felting technique.

Suitable for ages 10+. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.
Cost: £12 per person, Friends: £10.

INTRODUCTION TO ARCHERY – Target archery

Wednesday 5th, 12th & 19th  and  Friday 7th, 14th & 21st August
10:00 - 11:30am

Learn the basics of bare bow shooting and take part in some archery games. No experience necessary as instruction will be given. 

Suitable for adults and children aged 8+ yrs. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

POND DIPPING & BUG HUNT

Thursday 6th & 13th August
10am – 12 noon

Have a go at hunting for creatures in our pond and searching for minibeasts in the woods!

Suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.
Cost: £3 per person, Friends: £2. Under 2’s free!

ADVENTURE ARCHERY - Field archery in an enclosed woodland setting

Thursday 6th August
2pm – 4pm 
At the Treehouse


Move around the course, shooting at a variety of targets from different distances and elevations. No experience necessary as instruction will be given. See video on our website homepage for more information.

Suitable for adults and children aged 12+ yrs. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.

MOTH WATCH

Wednesday 19th August
7:30 –  9:30pm
At the Farm


Discover the variety of shapes, sizes and colours in the moth world!
The evening includes a moth slide-show and moth trapping.
Refreshments will be provided.

NATURE ACTIVITIES
AUTUMN BIRD WATCHING WALKS WITH GRAHAM GIDDENS
Guided walks giving you the unique opportunity to birdwatch on quiet areas of private land in the company of professional, knowledgeable guide, Graham Giddens. 
 
Each walk will be approx. 3 miles (5km) and run for approximately 2 hours, sometimes on uneven terrain. Please wear dark colours. Paths may be muddy and wet, so wear walking boots or wellies with a good grip.
 
SEPTEMBER
Sunday 20th: BIRD RINGING at 8 - 11am
For this session there will be the unique opportunity to see birds in the hand and we will bird watch from a fixed location with the guide. Please bring a chair and binoculars. 
WE SHOULD SEE: Lots of migrants including hirundines, pipits and warblers, as well as various raptors, waders and finches.

 OCTOBER
Sunday 18th: NORMANDY MARSH at 9 - 11 am
WE SHOULD SEE: Wildfowl, waders, peregrine and skylark.
 
NOVEMBER
Sunday 15th: ACRES DOWN at 9 - 11:30 am
WE SHOULD SEE: 5 species of winter thrush, goldcrests and some of the less common finches, as well as the autumn colours of the forest.
This walk includes some hills and the paths may be muddy- please wear waterproof footwear.

DECEMBER
Sunday 13th: NEEDS ORE RESERVE (with hides) at 9 - 11am
WE SHOULD SEE: Raptors, wildfowl, waders and a good range of smaller birds.

Cost: £12.00 per walk per person. Friends of the Trust: £10.00.
Numbers are limited on each walk so book early. Full details will be sent upon booking.

Come and have fun exploring nature for 2-4 year olds with adults

CHILDREN’S PARTIES

If you want something different – outdoor and eco-friendly, we have two great venues: The magical Treehouse Study Centre and Out of Town Centre Farm at Beaulieu with a range of fun activities.

Themes include Survival for 7 year olds + and Campfire Experience for 10 year olds+, a range of exciting themes for 4 – 10 year olds including Robin Hood, Pirates, Fairies & Elves, Dinosaurs, Bugs and Animals based at the Treehouse Study Centre all year round and farm parties in spring and summer at the Out of Town Centre.

FALCONRY ACTIVITIES 

With Paul Manning Falconer of Amews Falconry at the Out of Town Centre, Beaulieu.  Paul is a fully accredited LANTRA falconry assessor, has practiced falconry for over 20 years and is chairman of the Wessex Falconry & Hampshire Hawking Club.

“Introduction to Falconry” - A Falconry experience
During this half day session you will gain a basic understanding of birds of prey, their training and care whilst providing a hands-on experience holding and flying falconry birds.
Sundays         10.00am – 1.30pm
22nd February, 7th March (Saturday), 15th March, 12th April, 10th May, 13th June (Saturday)
Cost: £50.00 per person. Friends of the Trust: £45.00.  
Additional dates available on request.
