At the Countryside Education Trust, we pride ourselves on our Open Days which we hold three times throughout the year. Our Open Days give people the opportunity to visit us in a relaxed, informal way to see what we do and what we have to offer as well as simply enjoying a great day out! Some people visit as they are on holiday in the area, or pop in as they are passing through and others return year after year to take part in the fun educational activities, view the countryside crafts and exhibitions, visit our farm animals and enjoy the tasty local fare from the BBQ.

In the Autumn, during half term week at the end of October, we hold our Woodland Open Day at our Treehouse Study Centre. Why not come along for a hands-on countryside experience. We guarantee you will learn something whether it be trying your hand at using a pole lathe, dyeing wool or maybe mud oven cookery or orienteering. Come and see what life was like in medieval times, living in the Cob Cottage in our woods. There is something for everyone – adults and children alike – remember, you are never too old to learn!

Open Days on our farm site are held in the Easter holidays and during the summer and involve lots of fun activities for children as well as craft demonstrations, falconry, pony & trap rides, mud oven cookery, educational trails in our garden, meeting our farm animals and much more. We hold a Countryside on Show open weekend on the third weekend in July in conjunction with the New Forest Vintage Tractor and Engine Club. 2011 will be the third year we have held this show and promises to be bigger and better than before.

Come along to see such things as heavy horses in the parade ring, a wide variety of agricultural, horticultural and country exhibits, including pole lathing, wood turning and saw bench demonstrations, New Forest historical photographs, and much more. Vintage tractors will be on display along with commercial vehicles, cars and motorbikes and stationary engines.

If you are interested in volunteering at one of our Open Days please contact us.
