Job: Volunteer Education Assistant

Four Month Summer Placement - Work Experience with The Countryside Education Trust

 

This work experience opportunity is designed to provide a student or recent graduate with broad experience of the work of a small charity providing environmental education to schools and the community. The training given would culminate in some field teaching. The student/graduate would benefit greatly from this post and it would provide much-needed support to the permanent staff of the Trust.

 

Terms & Conditions 

Four months, from June – September 2013.

Working hours: 37.5 hours/week - normally 9 am - 5 pm but with some evening and weekend work for which time off in-lieu is given.

 

Holidays: pro rata to 22 days leave within a 52 week period.

 

Remuneration: Accommodation is offered free of charge plus £66 per week towards expenses.

 

Duties  

Duties will vary but the following outline indicates the main duties of this work:

 

The Education Assistant will assist with educational programmes and provide practical support for the education staff. After suitable training, s/he will may be asked to lead visiting groups in fieldwork activities. The Education & Development Co-ordinator and Education Officers will provide line supervision and will determine the level and complexity of the work undertaken.

 

*In addition*

S/he will gain experience of the general administrative work of the Trust by providing support for other staff, taking bookings for events, organising and publicising events and have experience in working on our farm and garden and in our residential centre.

 

Teaching - S/he will be asked to assist with leading school groups and with the delivery of our programme of holiday activities in the summer.
