A natural history of the whale

Description: Philip Hoare, Southampton born and bred author of Leviathan or, The Whale winner of the Samuel Johnson Prize 2009 talks about his adventures with whales in Cape Cod and the Azores.

Using images and clips from his films for the BBC, Philip will discuss the troubled history of man and whale in an age that has moved from whale hunting to whale watching. He will also talk about the different species of whales that can be seen in the Atlantic and and tell of his own close encounters with the animals themselves.
